CreditAccess Grameen, established in 1991, is a leading microfinance institution. The company provides small, unsecured loans to people (mostly women) in rural areas all over India.
The loans are given out to empower people to invest in income-generating activities and improve their living conditions. It also gives them access to healthcare and education.
The goal of the company is to ultimately help those below the poverty line – to eventually break the cycle of poverty.
CreditAccess Grameen has a unique group lending methodology, where small groups of women collectively guarantee each other’s loans.
The company prioritises by serving to those who are considered “ineligble” for loans from established public and private sector banks.
CreditAccess Grameen has nearly 2,000 branches spread across 17 states in India.
The stock has given excellent returns to investors after its Initial Public Offering in 2018.
